FARE COLLECTION AND TRANSIT TURNSTILES

AVL manufactures all types of products for the Transit Fare Collection industry. We supply mechanical coin or token operated turnstiles as well as electronic units designed to accept coins, tokens, passcards or tickets. Accompanying waist-high handicap gates are included to complete the fare collection portal. All waist-high equipment is intended for supervised collection points. Due to increased concerns with fare abuse and the resultant crime, many systems have implemented full-height turnstiles at part-time control areas. AVL manufactures both single and dual rotor turnstiles capable of meeting the stringent operating conditions of a mass transit environment. All turnstiles, and matching handicap gates, are fabricated using extra heavy material gauges and internal construction. AVL is pleased to list as satisfied users the New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Miami, San Antonio, Toronto, Hong Kong and Monterrey, Mexico transit systems.

For further information please contact us for detailed specifications and drawings.

Photo (above) shows typical fare collection turnstile fabricated from heavy gauge steel. Operates using coin, token or passenger ticket. Used primarily in New York, Boston, Miami, Atlanta, Hong Kong and Monterrey, Mexico Metro systems.

Photo (lower right) shows entry turnstile activated by electronic fare box and a mechanical exit turnstile. This configuration is intended for smaller systems with a supervised fare portal.

Photo (above right) shows a full height double gate turnstile designed for fare collection applications. Turnstile construction is extra heavy duty to combat vandalism and other concerns. Controlled by coins, tokens or pass cards, this unit is used in the New York, Boston and Chicago systems.
